Oil Change Services in Oshawa
Oil changes should be done to keep the mechanical parts of your engine from prematurely failing and it prolongs the life of a gasoline or diesel type of engine. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend changing the oil once a year or every 7,500 miles in a passenger car and light truck gas engines.
For diesel and turbocharged engines, six months or 3,000 miles is more the standard. If your oil isn’t changed enough, problems like loss of performance and increased emissions can occur. An additional benefit of having regular oil changes is that you have less chance of major bearing, ring, cam, or valve problems.
It isn’t as simple as it looks to do your own oil changes. For instance, if you install a filter with SAE threads when metric threads are required, you can damage the threads that hold the oil filter in place. Changing your oil while your engine is running may allow it to run out faster because it is thinner, but you risk being burned and oil is a suspected carcinogen. Also, you need to dispose of used oil properly since it is a hazardous chemical that may contain traces of lead.
It is best to leave it up to the professionals at Auto Tire & Safeties.
